Job Description Duties: Librarian works with Environmental Finance Program (EFP) staff to keep public and agency informed of environmental finance matters. Advises on organization, graphic design, and presentation of electronic resources on Environmental Financing Information Network (EFIN) Internet webpages. Participates in oversight and maintenance of EFP website. Makes recommendations concerning new resources. Ability to demonstrate EFP and EFIN components, including in-house demos to EPA staff. Participate in EFP team projects.

Knowledge:

Must be able to maintain, design, and update EFIN website. Must possess an ability to code/design webpages in HTML computer language. Must provide manual and electronic reference services, via e-mail, Hotline, and staff questions. Performs general research using on-line search techniques and other resources as needed. Assists EFP staff with special projects as assigned. Records and maintains monthly statistics. Knowledge of the principles, concepts and techniques of library science. Knowledge of electronic resources in libraries and other information technologies. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to plan and carry out 'information projects.' Education and Experience:

The African American Episcopal Historical Collection is a joint project of Virginia Theological Seminary and the Historical Society of the Episcopal Church.

DESCRIPTION: Bishop Payne Library, Virginia Theological Seminary, seeks a part-time assistant archivist to work 20 hours per week to job-share with existing part-time assistant archivist. Under the supervision of the Archivist, the assistant archivist develops printed materials soliciting donations of archival material to the AAEHC; develops and maintains a system of tracking contacts with potential donors; initiates contact with potential donors of archival materials; and provides AAEHC reference services to patrons in house, by telephone, by mail, and by email. With the other assistant archivist, this position also receives, accessions, organizes, processes, & describes the archival materials of the AAEHC; develops and maintains inventories and finding aids for the collection; collaborates with Technical Services to produce MARC bibliographic records and finding aids of archival collections for the library catalog; and prepares statistics and reports.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in archives management or library science preferred; proficiency with Microsoft Word and computer databases required; archival training or experience required; experience in working with donors highly desirable; knowledge of African American history or historiography highly desirable; familiarity with the Episcopal Church desirable; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and ability to work effectively with staff and patrons required; must be able to lift and move archival boxes up to 20 pounds.
